Join us back at the Brudenell as we celebrate all things piano to mark the tenth edition of Piano Day. Expect a typically varied and captivating evening of live music centred around the piano, in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. It’s piano music; for everyone.

London-based pianist, composer and improviser Saori Miraku's music is an invitation to transcend, to reach beyond the everyday world and into a place of stories, memories, imagination, dreams and transformation. When she performs, she expresses her personal experience of being, but in doing so invites her audience to follow her on a journey of their own. On this journey, it is her wish that they visit their own heart space, where they can experience the beauty and magic of conversing with their true selves. Her solo piano album “Many Times on Earth” was released in December 2023.

Currently studying at Leeds Conservatoire, Romy Taylor is a singer, songwriter and performer who grew up in the south of Spain. In the past year, Romy Taylor has played We Out Here Festival as well as selling out her debut headliner in Leeds. Throughout the years she has had many appearances on BBC Introducing West Yorkshire and North West, as well as Radio 5 Live. Taking inspiration from artists like Nai Palm, Eloise, Björk and Minnie Riperton, she combines an atmospheric floaty-feel with catchy sing-along melodies. She writes her lyrics for the girlies who intellectualise their emotions. Alongside her Leeds-based band, Romy’s latest releases encapsulates a unique and captivating sound, combining jazz, neo-soul and her Spanish influence.

Jubilant, lyrical and creative, Manchester-based Angle Shades is a forward thinking piano trio who sit somewhere between improvisation and composition. Comprising three young, rising-star musicians on the UK scene – Richard Jones on piano, Joshua Cavanagh-Brierley on bass, and Johnny Hunter on drums – the group was born out of the renewed friendship that came in the period post-lockdown, when old friends finally felt able to share a room once more.

Join host & curator Simeon Walker for a celebration of good music, good people and good times, gathered around the piano in the heart of Leeds.
